Statement / Description of the gallery
Located in the city of Sana’a, Arsheef is a contemporary art gallery established in 2019 with the aim of promoting the work of contemporary Yemeni artists in times of unrest. Working with both local artists and those in the diaspora, Arsheef is a social enterprise that seeks not only to sell contemporary Yemeni art, but also to create a market for Yemeni art and prepare Yemeni artists for exhibitions and presentation within the global art market.
Operating predominantly through Instagram (@arsheef.yemen), Arsheeef is making use of the technology provided by the 21st century to interact with art-lovers and collectors worldwide, allowing questions and requests to be answered swiftly via direct messaging. In addition, Arsheef does have a physical space in Sana’a, which is open by appointment only.
