AHA collective presents works by Yerevan-based visual artists Anush Ghukasyan and Ani Qananyan under the curation of Nairi Khatchadourian. Both artists invest the fragile yet long-lasting medium of ceramics to explore the notion of crisis, on a personal, collective, and global level. By playfully and critically obscuring the individual identities of each object through polka dot patterns, Ghukasyan’s “Imprints” installation highlights the global pressures of assimilation and acculturation experiences. Qananyan’s “16” series and “2020” artwork confront the audience with the intimacy of the grieving process through a tactile introspection close to the original paper-pen rawness and sensitivity to be as close to the fragility of life as possible.
